Jamestown’s golf team edged York by four strokes (312-316) to win its eighth Bay Rivers golf match of the season Monday afternoon at the Hamptons Golf Course.
The Eagles improved their district-lead to an even 80 strokes over the second-place Falcons heading into Thursday’s regular-season finale at Kiln Creek.
While Jamestown and York have all but locked up the district’s top two seeds, the battle for third, which grants the final automatic berth to the Region I tournament, will come down to Thursday as New Kent held on to its eight-stroke lead over Bruton (2467-2475) after the two teams finished tied for third at 321 on Monday.
While the district team title is all but decided, the race for Player of the Year will come down to Thursday.
Bruton’s Joey Monk, who has paced all individuals this season with a 74-stroke scoring average per 18 holes, will walk on to Kiln Creek’s par-72 course tomorrow leading York’s Connor Rinoski (74.13) by less than half a stroke.
Monk carded a 78 on Monday while Rinoski, along with teammate C.J. Dreyfuss, earned medalist honors after firing a 1-over par 73.
