York County and WJCC schools have canceled afternoon and evening events due to expected severe weather.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for several Virginia localities including James City County and Williamsburg, and severe storms are expected in the Triangle through the afternoon.
York County has canceled all after-school activities, including athletic practices and games, IB new student orientation, Y-Achieve SOL review, AP Review Sessions, all club meetings and after-school assistance with teachers.
York is directing all students to go home immediately after school and asks that parents instruct students to get on the bus or drive home carefully at the end of the day.
WJCC has also canceled all afternoon and evening activities, but Rec Connect programs will still go on as scheduled.
Mathews County – The Shoreline Management Presentation with VIMS which was scheduled to be held from 7-8 in the Mathews County Library has been postponed due to the weather.
City of Williamsburg Parks and Recreation – All youth and adult softball games and practices are canceled. Youth volleyball and youth tap class are canceled. Adult volleyball will be held as scheduled. Tennis instruction canceled.
