VDOT Lane Closure Forecast: Jan. 30-Feb. 5

vdotlogoIn an effort to keep you informed, VDOT publishes the following scheduled highway lane closures that may affect traffic in Hampton Roads. These closures are subject to change due to weather conditions and other unforeseen events. Other closures may occur that do not appear on this report.

YORK COUNTY
I-64 West – Motorists should expect single mobile lane closures at Merrimac Trail for overhead sign maintenance, Tuesday, February 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

JAMES RIVER BRIDGE
Route 17 South – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures on the James River Bridge for beam end repair, Monday, January 31, through Friday, February 4, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 17 North – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures on the James River Bridge for equipment staging Monday, January 31, through Friday, February 4, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

MONITOR-MERRIMAC MEMORIAL BRIDGE TUNNEL
I-664 North/South – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures for maintenance operations in the MMMBT, southbound, Sunday, January 30, and Monday, January 31 from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. and northbound, Tuesday, February 1, and Wednesday, February 2, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.

HAMPTON ROADS BRIDGE-TUNNEL
I-64 East – Motorist should expect overnight single lane closures Sunday through Thursday, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the roadway lighting upgrade to the I-64 East Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. Westbound traffic will not be affected and no weekend closures are planned. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2011.

Motorists are encouraged to use I-664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel to avoid delays. Take Exit 264 to access I-664. Use exit 15A for Norfolk and Virginia Beach destinations. Use exit 15B for Chesapeake and Outer Banks destinations.

HAMPTON/NORFOLK/VIRGINIA BEACH

I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile, alternating lane closures from Mallory to the I-264 Interchange for roadway sweeping, Sunday, January 30, through Thursday, February 3, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

DOWNTOWN TUNNEL
I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect single, mobile, alternating lane closures for tunnel sweeping, Tuesday, February 1, and Friday, February 4, from midnight to 5 a.m.

I-264 East – Motorists should expect single, alternating lane closures for tunnel drain cleaning, Sunday, January 30, through Thursday, February 3, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

NORFOLK
Hampton Boulevard Grading Project

Motorists should expect a traffic shift on Hampton Boulevard onto a newly created detour road. The six-lane detour roadway was constructed as part of the Hampton Boulevard Grade Separation Project. The detour road will provide access to both NIT and NAS facilities, while maintaining the same vehicle capacity as the current Hampton Boulevard.

I-64 East – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from 15th View to the I-264 Interchange for pothole repairs, Thursday, February 3, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-64 West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from Granby Street to 15th View for pothole repairs, Wednesday, February 2, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-564 East – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at Terminal Boulevard for overhead sign maintenance, from 9 p.m., Thursday, February 3, through 3 a.m., Friday, February 4.

I-564 East – Motorists should expect single lane closures at Gate 3 for barrier wall repair, Monday, January 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

CHESAPEAKE/NORFOLK/PORTSMOUTH

I-464 South – Motorists should expect lane closures from the I-64 Interchange to Main Street for overhead sign maintenance, Sunday, January 30, through Thursday, February 3, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

CHESAPEAKE/NORFOLK/VIRGINIA BEACH
I-64 East – Motorists should expect alternating mobile lane closures from the High Rise Bridge to the I-264 Interchange for pothole repairs, Sunday, January 30, from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m.

I-64 West – Motorists should expect alternating mobile lane closures from the High Rise Bridge to the I-64/264 Interchange for pothole repairs, Monday, January 31, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.

CHESAPEAKE

I-64 East/West Restorative Pavement Project – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures from the Bowers Hill Interchange to the I-464 Interchange, Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for restorative pavement maintenance work.  Work will include patching isolated concrete pavement, increasing the width of the inside shoulder and replacing two lifts of asphalt. These paving operations will continue Sunday through Thursday until the end of August 2011.

I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect multiple, alternating lane closures from the Rotunda Bridge near the I-264 Interchange (Exit 299) to Battlefield Boulevard (Exit 290) February 4, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.  Motorists should also be alert for on and off ramp closures.

I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect on- and off-ramp lane reductions at the Greenbrier Parkway and Battlefield Boulevard ramp systems for pothole repairs, Tuesday, February 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-64 West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures at the I-464 Interchange (Exit 291) for sign repair, Monday, January 31, from 10 a.m. to noon.

I-64 East – Motorists should expect single lane closures at Shell Road for guardrail repair, Tuesday, February 2, from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.

I-464 North/South – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from Freeman Avenue to the Oak Grove Connector for pothole repairs, Monday, January 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-664 South – Motorists should expect single lane closures at Bowers Hill for guardrail repair, Tuesday, February 1, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

GILMERTON BRIDGE
Route 13 East/West – Motorists should expect daytime closures including flagging operations in the project work zone, stopping traffic in both directions for up to 10 minutes.

Motorists are asked to use extreme caution as work crews repair barrier walls on the traffic side of the wall.

I-664 North/South – Motorists should expect single alternating lane closures between the Bowers Hill Interchange and the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel for guardrail repairs and construction maintenance activities, Sunday, January 30, through Thursday, February 3, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

I-664 North/South – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from Bowers Hill to College Drive for pothole repairs, Friday, February 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

PORTSMOUTH

I-264 East – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at Greenwood Drive for overhead sign maintenance, Tuesday, February 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from Effingham Street to Victory Boulevard for storm drain cleaning, Monday, January 31, through Wednesday, February 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

VIRGINIA BEACH
Witchduck Road North/South –Motorists should expect single median lane closures from Bonney Road to the I-264 Interchange on Witchduck Road and on Bonney Road between Witchduck Road and Parry Road for asphalt placement, Monday, January 31, through Friday, February 4, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-264 West – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures at Witchduck Road for overhead sign maintenance, from 9 p.m., Wednesday, February 2, through 3 a.m., Thursday, February 3.

I-264 East – Motorists should expect single lane closures at Rosemont Road for barrier wall repair, Monday, January 31, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

I-264 East – Motorists should expect the on-ramp closed from Newtown Road to I-264 East for soil test borings, Monday, January 31, through Thursday, February 3, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-264 West – Motorists should expect mobile alternating lane closures from Parks Avenue to Newtown Road for pothole repair, Wednesday, February 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

COURTLAND
Southampton Parkway West – Motorists should expect a single lane closure on Southampton Parkway for right turn lane installation, Monday, January 31, through Friday, February 4, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
