Bonnie Carol Stamey

York County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 45-year-old Hampton woman wanted for a rash of thefts from vehicles in York County.

Bonnie Carol Stamey was wanted on eight counts of grand larceny and two counts of credit card theft. York spokesman Sgt. Dennis Ivey, Jr. said this morning that Stamey had been arrested Tuesday night based on a tip.

Ivey would not disclose the specific areas where Stamey is believed to have committed the thefts, saying the case was an ongoing investigation.

Stamey was said to be driving a 1999 green Dodge van, and Ivey said she’d been known to frequent the Hilton Village area of Newport News, staying in motels in those cities.

The York sheriff is asking anyone with information to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

York is a big county. There have been many vehicle thefts in the County lately. Any idea where these thefts took place?
