Williamsburg – Willie Earl “Rabbit” Randall, Jr., was called to eternal rest and entered into his Heavenly home on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, in the Hospice Support Care House of Williamsburg. His life began on July 11, 1929, the son of the late Eliza and Willie E. Randall, Sr., of Toano.
He was a faithful member of Chickahominy Baptist Church. He retired from the City of Williamsburg and Colonial Williamsburg, after many years of dedicated service. “Rabbit,” as he was so fondly called, was a loving and devoted person who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith James-Randall; daughter, Cheryl Hunter; sister, Pearl Lee Meekins; and two brothers, Emmanuel Randall and William Randall. He leaves to cherish his blessed memories, his loving children, Steven (Phyllis), Clarence (Glorine), Willie, Iris Pittman, Beatrice Casado (Angel), Deadra, Earl and Troy; step-children, Melvin (Dionne), Alicia, Allister (Cheryce), Corlis Jones (William T.), Benita Berkley, Larry, Lacanas, Lonnie and Kirk; former wife, Helen Randall (George); sisters, Catherine Cook, Louise Dancy, Dora Kinchen (Rudy), Isabelle Berkley and Muneerah Abdul Musawir (Thomas); 47 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of extended family and many caring friends.
A funeral service celebrating the life he lived will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Sep. 3, 2009, in Bethel Restoration Center with the Rev. Corwin Hammond and Bishop John Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Chickahominy Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 220 Walker Drive by 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mr. Randall may be viewed in the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., expressions may be given in memory of Mr. Randall.
