Williamsburg – Grady Prince Andrews, Sr., 87, passed away Dec. 27, 2008, with his wife by his side. They had resided in Williamsburg since 1954. Born in Robersonville, NC on Aug. 14, 1921, he had been a Virginia resident since 1947.
Grady was an avid fisherman, always fascinated by nature and all of God’s creatures, enjoying them to the fullest. He loved dancing and entertaining his friends and family, taking every chance to bring a smile.
After 32 years of Federal Service, he retired in 1976 as an Electrical Foreman from the James River Reserve Fleet U.S. Department of Commerce. He was member of the Williamsburg Masonic Lodge No.6 where he served as Worshipful Master in 1973. He is a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army as a Medical Technician.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sue Andrews Parkin.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Brownie Andrews; two daughters, Sara Shoff and husband, Steve, of Marshfield, MA, and Renie Andrews of Concord, NC; son, Grady (Andy) Andrews, Jr. and wife, Jeannette of Chester, VA; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and brother, James Jenkins of Robersonville, NC.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 30 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Rd, Williamsburg. Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 31, 10:00 a.m., at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
