Lanexa – Pastor Ronald H. Riffle, 60, passed away Oct. 28, 2008, at home. Ron dedicated himself to 30 years of service in the ministry, serving as the pastor of Olive Branch Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Norge since Oct. 2000 and previously at churches in Hillsville, Virginia; Pennsylvania and Kentucky.

He received his Master of Divinity at Lexington Theological & Pittsburgh Theological seminaries. He was actively involved with various outreach ministries and co-founded the Williamsburg chapter of Faith in Action. Many were touched by his love and lifelong work, especially in the area of missions. He organized numerous mission trips, most recently for hurricane relief following Hurricane Katrina. Ron was also an avid gardener and fisherman. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, where he earned 13 medals, including the Bronze Star and a Presidential Citation.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Stanley Riffle; mother, Esmeralda Roberts; and brother James Roberts.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly J. Riffle; son, Brian Riffle and daughter, Denise Riffle; brother, Raymond Johnson and wife, Karen; brother, Barry Riffle and wife, Judy; brother, Wayne Riffle; brother, Terry Riffle and wife, Mary; sister, Patty Kacijancic and husband, Andy; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 2, 3:00 p.m. at the Olive Branch Christian Church, 7643 Richmond Road, Williamsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Olive Branch Christian Church Mission Fund at P.O. Box 190, Norge, VA 23127.
