Williamsburg – Lucille Baillargeon Cody, 81, died Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Williamsburg Hospice House following a courageous battle with cancer. She was a 50 year resident of Williamsburg and member of St. Bede Catholic Church.
Lucille was born in Whitinsville, MA to Arthur and Candide (Blouin) Baillargeon. She moved to Williamsburg in 1958 with her husband Thomas J. Cody, who preceded her in death. Her sisters, Irene Lemire, Rita Baillargeon, and brother Arthur Baillargeon also preceded her in death.
Her two daughters, Patricia Cody and husband, James Miller, of Danbury, CT; and Susan C. Dane and husband, David, of Fredericksburg, VA, survive her. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Megan Dane of Alexandria, VA and Rhiannon D. Bowden and husband, Stuart of Ruther Glen, VA; longtime friend, Warren Miller, of Williamsburg, VA; two sisters, Ida Barnatt and husband, Henry, of Whitinsville, MA; and Claire Van Houwe of Smithfield, RI; and by numerous friends.
In recent years, Lucille was an avid reader, news watcher and crafter. She especially enjoyed friendships developed in her weekly activities with the Quarterpath Walking Club, the St. Bede’s Knitting Group, and the Senior Center Bridge Group.
Family will recieve friends at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the Catholic Campus Ministry, Richmond Road, Williamsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg, 4445 Powhatan Parkway, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Her family will never forget the care and support provided by this organization to their mother.
