Williamsburg - George W. Walton, a lifelong resident of York County, has gone to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008. He was surrounded by the love of his wife and children.
George was born to Joseph E. Walton and Mary Williams Walton, of Glenns, VA on May 16, 1930. He met the love of his life, Margaret Coleman, and on Aug. 11, 1950, started a family and shared a long and happy life together. They were blessed with three children.
George retired from Guest Services, Inc. at Camp Peary, in 1990. He had a passion for contracting, and built many homes and apartments on the peninsula. He also enjoyed spending time woodworking and often would make items for his family. In his younger days, he would spend hours playing golf with family and friends. He was also an avid reader and loved to research items of interest. He had a passion for sports, always rooting the underdog and would have many conversations with his grandson about the games.
George has now gone to share his eternal life with his beloved daughter, Patricia Lynn Roberts, whom passed away in 2001, and has deeply been missed.
To cherish his life and share his memory are his wife, Margaret Walton; daughter, Alison Walton; son, Dennis Walton; daughter-in-law, Nona Walton; three grandchildren, Evan Walton, Austin Walton and Frances Roberts, who loved and adored their “Papa;” and a special sister and brother-in-law, Ann and David Hall.
