Tribe Dominates Women’s Tennis All-State Awards

Megan Moulton-Levy was named the VaSID State Player of the Year

Richmond, Va. – The William and Mary women’s tennis team once again dominated the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State awards, the organization announced on July 23.

For the third straight season, Megan Moulton-Levy took home the State Player of the Year honor, while the College placed four singles players and two doubles teams on the two all-state teams.

Moulton-Levy garnered first-team all-state honors in both singles and doubles along with the player of the year award, capping one of the best careers in W&M history. The Monroe, Mich., native was a 31-8 in singles and 30-8 in doubles during the 2007-08 season. She capped her career as the W&M school record holder in career doubles wins (125) and combined (singles and doubles) wins (249).

Moulton-Levy was named the CAA Player of the Year for the fourth consecutive season, becoming only the fourth athlete in any sport to accomplish that feat. She also earned All-America honors in both singles and doubles as a senior to bring her career total to a program-best six.

Junior Katarina Zoricic and sophomore Ragini Acharya both joined Moulton-Levy on the first team in both singles and doubles. Zoricic finished the year ranked No. 123 nationally and No. 4 in the East region in singles. Acharya led the Tribe in singles victories for the second straight season, posting 32 wins. She finished the year ranked No. 115 nation-ally and No. 5 in the East region in singles.

Former W&M head coach Kevin Epley was named the VaSID State Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Epley, who led the Tribe to an 18-9 record and No. 21 nationally ranking in 2008, resigned from the College to pursue other career opportunities in July.
