Williamsburg Area Transport continues preparing for expanded service in the Historic Triangle, including service to Jamestown, Sunday service and increased bus route frequency.
WAT Executive Director Mark Rickards said expanded service to Jamestown will debut in September and Sunday service will begin sometime in August.
Increased bus route frequency will allow WAT to have buses at each stop every 30 minutes – a significant upgrade over its current hour standard.
“Funding is not quite in the so-called ‘bank’,” Rickards said. He expects increased frequency to launch sometime between August and October.
“Transit is more than important now than ever,” Rickards said. “People are looking to transit.”
